In today's society we can eat anything, we can overeat, we can drink, we can over-indulge to our heart's content. Then, if we feel sick, there will always be a pill or drug to "cure" our distress. In smoking, we can have filter tip cigarettes to remove part of the poisons and lessen the possibility of cancer (If we should get lung cancer, we can always "cure" it by having a lung removed).

For years our food supply has been tampered with by the addition of poisonous substances designed to preserve "shelf life." People have been systematically brainwashed into caring more for the preservation of foods than for quality and freshness. Thus, food processors and manufacturers have been kept happy by being allowed to proceed with complete impunity in the unscrupulous activity of altering food products by chemical means. Poor quality foods are plumped, puffed, coloured and advertised in such a manner that the housewife really believes she is getting good wholesome food for her family.

In today's society we have drug factories operating full blast to produce enough pills to meet our needs. The warehouses, as well as every corner shop and drug store are stocked full of the tons of indigestion tablets we swallow after every meal for "gas". We consume laxatives by the trainload for our natural ailment of constipation. After constipation, we get diarrhoea and resort to more drugs to counteract the effects of the laxatives. Drugs merely suppress symptoms, never remove causes.

In today's society we have a drug store on almost every street, with a pharmacist busily pouring drugs out of big bottles into smaller ones, each constituting "a prescription." We are led to believe that it is here where health is dispensed - as if health were a commodity to be bought and sold. We have the overcrowded hospitals where the quality of mercy is so strained that often only the incentive of financial reimbursement can release it.

In today's society we have the waiting rooms of doctors surgeries so crowded one might think one was in a bargain basement at sale time. We have the constant demand for more and bigger hospitals for our growing army of chronic mental and physical invalids; the incessant begging for more funds to "cure" the various disease states. This is what we are told. Why bother to build health? You can buy it!

We also have the trainloads of cigarettes and cigars smoked daily; this makes the tobacco interests happy... the lorry loads of tranquillisers, which keep the pharmacists and the drug companies happy... the million cases of beer, wine and spirits drunk daily, which keeps the brewers and distillers happy... the chemicals added to make food more artificially beguiling, which keeps the food processors happy. In the midst of all this consideration of "happiness" little thought is given to the happiness and health of the consumer - the individual.

It was the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates who first laid down the laws of natural medicine which state that:

  • Nature alone can heal, provided that it is given the opportunity to do so
  • Food should be medicine
  • Dis-ease is an expression of purification
  • All disease is one - an expression of a state of dis-ease within the human system.

Our naturopathy centre is practicing ONLY natural methods of treatment. We do not use pills, tablets, antibiotics and sincerely believe that these substances and surgical operations should be used only in the very extreme cases, only after all other alternative approaches have been tried.

Moreover, we really believe that the main emphasis in any disease treatment should be made on prevention of treatment, rather than curing it when it has already developed.

For this reason our centre applies a whole variety of measures in the prevention of disease and the actual treatment. Such treatments include the prescribing of a specially formulated natural diet, fasting, herbal therapy, body detox, body cleanse, acupuncture, massage, oil therapy and many other unique natural methods.

Body cleansing - is one of the most important tools in fighting and preventing many diseases. Since a basic belief of naturopathy is that most disease is caused by toxaemia, naturopathy relies on inner cleansing to rid the body of these harmful toxins, and also correct the body's natural balance, so that natural continuous cleansing will go on after the treatment has been completed. Exposure to environmental factors such as processed foods, additives, pollution and toxins have left our bodies less able to cope with diseases.
